African Supreme Audit Institutions Meet in Egypt

Preparations are intensifying ahead of the general assembly meeting of the African Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions, AFROSA that will take place in Egypt in October 2014 to among other issues adopt the future strategic plan of the organization. The chairperson of AFROSAI, who is also the First President of the Court of Audit of Gabon, Gilbert Ngoulakia disclosed in Yaounde on July 4, 2014.

Mr Ngoulakia had a consultation meeting with Cameroon's Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of the Supreme State Audit, Henri Eyebe Ayissi who also doubles as the Secretary General of the African Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions. The organization that brings together 52 Supreme Audit Institutions from African countries, has as objective to promote and develop the sharing of ideas and technical experiences between Supreme Audit Institutions in African States in diverse domains of their activities.

Talking to reporters after their discussions, Henri Eyebe Ayissi said they were committed through AFROSAI to improve on the management of public funds in member countries, build the technical capacities of Supreme Audit Institutions and consolidate public finance management in Africa. He said there was permanent consultation between the Chairperson of AFROSAI and the Secretary General, stating that they were proud of what has been achieved so far. Cameroon's Supreme State Audit Office is hosting the general secretariat of AFROSAI since September 2012.
