The PACA gift to some nine Common Initiative Groups is to boost yields in the region.
The Agricultural Competiveness Project, PACA, has offered financial grants worth FCFA 470.2 million to some nine common initiative groups in the Mifi, Noun and Koung-khi Divisions of the West Region. The beneficiaries comprising GIC des Amis du developpement and Ugicame from the Noun Division, GIC Agro Mebang, GIC Acode Universe, GIC AVEC, GIC Avio, GIC Femsaf, GIC Ecbal all from Mifi Division and GIC Eac from Koung-khi Diivision will invest the money in the production of piggery and poultry farms.
The convention to the efficient management of this financial assistance was signed in Bafoussam on June 26, 2012 between PACA, represented by its Regional Coordinator, Glory Mbah Ngami and heads of the nine Common Initiative Groups in the present of the Regional Delegate of MINEPIA for the West, Danoji Fongou Thimothee. In a speech, Glory Mbah Ngami said the financial grants to the livestock farmers were coming as development cooperation between their financial donor, World Bank and the Cameroon government. He explained further that the main aim behind the grant was to fight poverty and achieve sustained economic growth and promote sustainable development among the local population who are concentrated in the private sector.
Presiding at the signing the Regional Delegate of MINEPIA for the West Dr.Danoji Fongou Thimothee described PACA gesture as government agreed goal of curbing poverty, calling on the farmers to embrace the PACA grants with all anxiety.
