Members of the organising committee have assembled for their first preparatory meeting in the build-up to the pioneer International Exhibition of Agricultural Machinery in Cameroon.
The event slated for the 14th to 19th December 2015 will be a forum to bring agricultural machines closer to farmers.
The fair organised by the Chamber of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and Forests of Cameroon will group manufacturers, sellers and users of agricultural machines to shape experiences and draft the way forward for mechanised agriculture.
“The forum to be organised on the theme, ‘Agricultural Revolution: Stakes and Challenges of a Second Generation Agriculture in Cameroon’ seeks to accelerate mechanisation especially for small-scale farmers,” the coordinator of the fair, Elisser Mbang Ekoutou, noted.
She said the meeting focuses on the putting in place of a chronogram for the December event.
The organising committee coordinator further explains that there is need to facilitate the use of machines in small and large-scale farms at a time when Cameroon is engaging into mechanised agriculture as one of its pillars of the 2035 plans to boost agricultural production.
Foreign partners, local producers and agric business experts will be expected during the December forum to demystify the use of agricultural machines.
The Secretary General of the Chamber of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and Forests of Cameroon, Dr Bernard Nwana Sama noted that the demand for agricultural machines has witnessed a significant rise recently.
He added that the fair will pave the way to promote local production of agricultural machines.
