American Investors Explore Opportunities in Cameroon

Prime Minister Philemon Yang on Tuesday discussed with delegation members.

American investors currently exploring business opportunities in Cameroon have expressed interest in the agriculture, construction, healthcare, renewable energy, environment and security protection and intelligence sectors. Prime Minister Philemon Yang yesterday, April 23, 2013 had working session with the business delegation at the Star Building.

The American Trade Mission organized by the Pennsylvanian Department of Community and Economic Development in collaboration with the African and Caribbean Business Council, officials say, sets out to increase export, trade and investment and transform the connections between business and government. Besides seeking investment opportunities in Cameroon, the business delegation, equally wants to understand the business climate in the country.

Speaking to reporters after discussions with the Prime Minister, one of the investors, Gregory A. Campbell, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rainmaker said their choice of Cameroon was because the country was opening up to private sectors and they felt, " This is the right time and opportunity," he said. He plans to invest in the healthcare sector by bringing in products and applied technology. In the technology sectors, he is looking for companies with which to partner, while in the higher education sector, he would want to work with institutions to enable that grades awarded graduates more competitive.

Another investor, Andre C. McCoy, Project Manager of Wheatley US Ltd Construction Consulting said, the company was interested in trading in agricultural and security protection and intelligence products.

The investors who were accompanied to the Prime Minister's Office by the Chargé d'Affaires in the US Embassy in Yaounde, expressed delight at the Prime Minister's warm reception saying they come to share, build, invest and learn about opportunities in Cameroon.

International Multiracial Organisation

Prime Minister Yang in the evening also received a delegation of the American- African body, the International Multiracial Shared Cultural Organisation that came to discuss bases of cooperation and propose investments avenues in the areas of energy supply, marketing in agricultural products and construction. The President of the organization, Franck Weston told reporters that want to supply energy to industries and refineries in Cameroon.
