Belfius Bank lends billions for Cameroon water project

A financial agreement for a total of nearly 14 billion FCFA to support a project to improve drinking water supply in eleven cities in Cameroon has been signed by Cameroon's Minister of Economy, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, and Daniel Feremans, Head of Dexia Bank in Belgium.

Sources close to the Ministry of Economy say these include Yaounde, Douala, Garoua, Bafoussam, Bamenda, Nkongsamba, Maroua, Buea, Limbe and Akonolinga Ambam.

In detail, this project will consist of the rehabilitation of certain production facilities, but will mostly be concerned with laying around 200,000 meters of pipes, which offer the possibility of connecting approximately 15,000 additional subscribers to the distribution network of drinking water in the country.
