In the advent of the launch of the Cameroon Commodities Exchange (CCX), the future exchange of raw materials in the country, cabinet Eleni LLC, which advises the Cameroonian Government on this project suggests the creation of centres for storage and delivery of products traded on the CCX in nine Cameroonian cities.
It involved the cities of Kumba, Douala, Yaoundé, Abong-Mbang, Foumbot, Bamenda, Ngaoundere, Touborou and Kaele.
They stated that, "the assessment of the capacity of the existing warehouse revealed a deficit of storage infrastructure of 300,000 TM for 5 years in the cities above, for volumes of trade projected for.
Clearly, the future exchange of raw materials of Cameroon works best 5 years after its launch, it will be necessary to construct over this same period, warehouses with a total capacity of at least 300,000 TM.
From this point of view, one remembers that the Cameroonian Government has launched two tenders for "construction of complex packaging and storage of food products in some production areas" of the country. More than 3 billion Cfa francs will be invested in infrastructure.
But next to public investment to boost the capacity of storage of agricultural products in the country, private operators would be also interested in this type of investment, in connection with the announced launch of CCX.
In his study of the feasibility of this project, Eleni cabinet announced for that the group "Bolloré would like to invest in the construction of new warehouses for CCX and dispose of land out of Douala.
