CAMRAIL continues its modernization

Last, June 24, 2014 in Douala, Pr Robert Nkili, Minister of transport, presided over the presentation ceremony of the new equipment been assigned by CAMRAIL : 50-car platform, 25 tank cars, and 30 thousand linear metres of rail.

He was accompanied by the Governor of the coastal region, the President of the Board of Directors and the Director General of CAMRAIL.

The tank cars manufactured by the Indian TEXMACO and the platforms cars built by Chinese CSR are intended to strengthen the capacity of discharge of hydrocarbons and containers of Camrail.

The 30-mile linear metres of rail of 54 kg provided by Arcelor Mittal will enable the realization of the maintenance of the track for the improvement of the safety of traffic and journey times.

At a total cost of 5.6 billion CFA francs these investments are part of the commitments made by the concession under the 2 amendment to the concession agreement of the railways of Cameroon which provides for the period 2009-2020, investments of 230 billion CFA FRANCS, of which 158 billion funded by CAMRAIL.

CAMRAIL, a public-private partnership participates in the socio-economic development of Cameroon.

It pays annually to the State 12 billion CFA francs in respect of the licence fee, taxes and fees and invests of 10 billion CFA francs every year for the modernization of railway.
