The atmosphere at the headquarters of the Commercial Bank-Cameroon is calm, serene and busy throughout Thursday, September 15. Except for few individuals many customers are yet to be aware of the recent changes at the helm of the financial institution.

But there is enough good news! Customers are withdrawing their desired amounts or saving without any stress. Some who are gunning for school loans have them on time without stress. “Well, I have just received some school loans for my children and this is what interests me. If a financial institution can trust its customers through such a service and keep them smiling especially during this back-to-school period, therefore fear is not justifiable,” Emilienne M., said Thursday, September 15, after a successful operation from the bank in Bonanjo.

Although many thought that with the end of the mandates of Provisional Administrators and with the crisis that rocked the bank some years ago services might be affected or weakened. The reverse is true. Rather the fervency of services indicates that the bank stands a better chance of further wooing more potential clients. Payment or savings counters, as well as the Automated Teller Machine were busy throughout our gathering for this report. Affiliated services such as money transfer through Western Union were impressively patronised.

Customers seem not to know that there is even a change at the helm of the financial institution once they can save and withdraw without a hitch. “I have no idea if the institution has a new management; I made some savings yesterday and because of the need to invest in my business I have just withdrawn some amounts,” says Marcel N. Enquiries to meet a staff or the other for further help was the order of the day at the ground floor of mansion hosting the bank and its headquarters in Bonanjo. New customers were each busy filling forms to open accounts while staff were anxiously waiting for the official installation of the new top management. Both the General Manager and her Assistant started work September 12 after decision n°D-2016/188 of the President of the Central African Banking Commission, COBAC, came into effect September 9 with the winding up of the regime of the Provisional Administrators.
