CDE workers cautioned against possible shutdown in 2018

The water management corporation known by its French acronym Camerounaise Des Eaux, CDE, entrusted in the hands of Moroccans shall in 2018 come to the end of the ten years contract signed with the government of Cameroon.

With the experience of handing over SNEC to CDE, workers have been cautioned to be vigilant and not to fall victim of layoffs by receiving the deceptive package of mutual separation from CDE as it might likely fold up come 2018 on the expiry of its contract.

This call for caution was sounded by Trade Union leader of CDE workers’ syndicate, Lemfon Isaac, who was retiring after serving for 34 years from SNEC to CDE.

The retired trade union leader made this public during a send-off party organised by him and friends in his honour on Bamenda. During the occasion workers after worker spoke of what Lemfon Isaac has done as a leader and that if today workers in the water corporation management body can go home on retirement smiling it is thanks to protocol agreements signed with the institution.

As testified by the workers delegate, Nouba Lucien, the workers would greatly miss Lemfon Isaac as a syndicate leader who made sure that at all times working conditions were good for the workers. He assured Lemfon that his rich experience as syndicate leader would be consulted from time to time when things get rough.

Dr Kingue Thomson, a friend to Lemfon Isaac, said the testimonies from workers speak volumes of the man Lemfon Isaac whom he came to know just seven months ago. This equally has added value to his friend who is so popular in addressing national issues especially on the CRTV National StationMorning Safari programme.

The North West Regional Director of CED, who was represented, sent words of encouragement to Lemfon Isaac, saying retirement does not mean he cannot be of use to the corporation from time to time. He called on the retiree to have a well deserved rest.

As a word of thanks to his fellow colleagues Lemfon Isaac lauded them for enabling him to succeed as a syndicate leader and that he shall not hesitate to intervene if an issue crops up for once a trade union leader always a trade unionist. He advised his colleagues to prepare for retirement by first of all educating the children then have a comfortable home to live.

As a Trade Unionist he said he drew his inspiration from late C.P.N Vewesse of the Cameroon Development Corporation CDC and that what has safe him most is his out spoken nature. He speaks the truth and stand by it. Though retired from CDE the government of Cameroon recently appointed Lemfon Isaac as one of the Court assessors in the North West Region.

As a souvenir Lemfon Isaac presented a gift for the Regional Director of CDE saying it is from the holy seer given that his former Boss is a Catholic Christian. Likewise CDE workers presented a sealed gift to Lemfon Isaac saying it is symbolic of the love and recognition of what he has done in their lives.
