Cameroon ranks 4th largest Guinness market in the World

Cameroon currently ranks fourth largest Guinness market in the world and second in Africa, according to Andy Fennell, President of the British group in Africa Region.

On a visit to Cameroon, Fennell said Cameroon is a strategic market for the brewer, producer of Guinness drink, “as it is our fourth largest market in the world.

Cameroon is also the company’s second largest market in Africa, just behind Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, largest economy and leading energy producer.

Recognizing the importance of the Cameroon market, the British group is carrying out several projects to revamp its activities in the country.

Among other projects, it plans to reduce the volume of imported raw material in order to bolster local production of cereals like soya which the central African country produces.

The government has launched a project worth CFA 50 billion FCFA (about $101m), which was funded by the World Bank, in a bid to boost local production of maize, cassava and sorghum.

To take advantage of the project, the local subsidiary of the British Beer Company has signed an agreement with the Cameroonian government to supply these commodities
