Chococam starts trading in “beauty and household products”

The agro-foods subsidiary of the South African company, Tiger Brands, Chocolateries confiseries du Cameroun (Chococam), has officially expanded its activities by adding “the manufacturing, import, export and trade of beauty and household products as well as their bi-products.”

This was revealed in an announcement published on November 10, 2014.

The agro-industrial company, which also increased its social capital by 800 million FCFA to bring it to 4.8 billion FCFA, has now made its entrance on the cosmetic products distribution market and rice and food paste official.

In January 2014, Chococam, more commonly known for its candy and Cameroonian cocoa-based chocolates, launched its beauty product line under the “Miadi” brand. A year earlier, the agro-foods company had started to distribute rice and food pastes under the “Tastic” brand.

A brand of rice was officially recalled on October 16, 2014 by Chococam’s parent company, Tiger Brands, because it was discovered to contain carcinogens.

“We wish to apologise to our customers. We would like to assure them that the problem identified concerns only the said brand. They can continue to consume other products of the same category without fear,” stated the South African company in an official release.
