Civil air traffic increase in first half of 2014

The aviation authority recently published the bulletin of performance for the first half of 2014. The first half of 2014 has seen civil air traffic (all destinations and uses) increase to 15,321 both for landings and take-offs, a difference of 276 compared to the first half of last year. The activity is growing by 5%, as of the 2013 accounts which indicated 14.568 movements over the same period.

The third statistical bulletin from the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (civil aviation authority, CCAA) which gives these figures, also specified the different types of flight listed: 10.394 commercial flights (9% growth); 3499 non-commercial flights and 1428 irregular (casual) commercial flights.

In detail, it should be noted that the Yaoundé-Nsimalen attendance continues to grow, while Douala remains the main point of activity. (8589 movements, 68% of international traffic). International traffic (outside the Cemac sub-region) registered 45% of the total volume of movements with 8589 flights.

Cemac region, meanwhile, covered 20% of the total. Internal traffic ranks at the bottom of the standings with 3%. CCAA statement however noted that the latter figure might be overvalued, double-counting being notable in this segment of activity.

On the "passengers" chapter, Cameroonian airports welcomed 719.215 including 279.393 for arrivals; 319.958 for departures and 120.164 passengers in transit. International flights are still most active with 350.989 transported customers. At the regional level, there were 91.568 and 156.794 on local airlines.

It is therefore a 17% jump facing passenger traffic compared with the first half of 2013. The contribution of the Cemac being remarkable in this regard recods 37% increase, alongside the 16% of domestic travelers and 12% international.
