Coffee exports decline by more than 100 tonnes

At the end of March 2015, i.e. four months after the beginning of the 2014-2015 coffee campaign, Cameroon coffee exports stood at 2 653 tonnes, a decline of more than 100 tonnes from 2 765 tonnes exported in the same period last year, revealed statistics from the national coffee and Cocoa Board (NCCB).

These exports are largely dominated by robusta, variety of coffee that officially represents approximately 95% of the Cameroonian coffee production.

As a reminder, after a drop in domestic production of 56% in 2012-2013 (total production of 16 000 tonnes), the Cameroonian coffee sector recovered during the 2013-2014 season, with a production of 32 800 tonnes.

During the 2014-2015 current campaign, the country plans a production of 40 000 tonnes.
