Dangote to begin cement marketing in first week of January 2015

The cement produced by the factory of Dangote cement Cameroon S.A in Douala will be available on the Cameroonian market as early as the first week of January 2015.

The confirmation was made by Baba Abdullahi, Project Director at the Cameroon subsidiary of the Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote group.

Planned for the end of this month of December, marketing is undergoing a slight postponement due to the willingness of the leaders of the company to make available the cement produced throughout the country since the launch of the marketing.

"We will start production next week and our cement will be available in all cities of the country. We are working to this end", Baba Abdullahi told Ecofin Agency. "Several other tests will start on 20 December and 10 days later we could start talking about actual production", entrusted another member of the company.

Already, the commercial teams of Dangote cement Cameroon S.A. officials are in Yaoundé and Douala to present the characteristics of the cement that they will produce. At Promote, at the international fair, held since December 06 (and ends December 14) in Yaoundé, they distributed in their booth the flyers, forging contacts with potential partners and giving further explanation to the curious. Many Cameroonians go also to inquire on the modalities of distribution of Dangote cement.

November 08, 2014, Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote, after a brief inspection of his cement plant site explained the delays in the start-up of the activities of this cement plant, originally scheduled to be commissioned in January 2014, and then August and October 2014, by essentially technical issues. Among these reasons were mentioned the congestion in the port of Douala, which has slowed the import of equipment for the construction and installation of the plant.
