Douala port lumber yard receive tugboat to accelerate ship loading

Concessionaire of the Douala port lumber yard, Société d’exploitation des parcs à bois du Cameroun (SEPBC), announced the January 12, 2015 launch of a tugboat christened “Bahia, named after a rare, prized wood essence,” in an effort to speed-up ship loading. This was announced in a press release that the company has just issued.

According to the lumber yard concessionaire, last December, 105,893 m3 of wood (81,017 m3 of logs and 24,873 m3 of standing timber) were moved. “These figures bring the total volume of wood delivered in 2014 to 1,203,000 m3. This performance is an indicator that congestion in the Douala port lumber yard is coming to an end,” stated SEPBC.
