EDF opens office in Cameroon to develop the Natchigal central project

Electricité de France have opened an office in Cameroon just 24 hours before signing an agreement with the government giving them sole rights to the development of the Natchigal hydroelectric plant, in the central region.

According to the agreement signed July 10, EDF should not only lead the construction of this important energy infrastructure for the expansion of the plant society of Cameroon Aluminium (ALUCAM), who wants to triple production, but also produce and possibly carry the energy generated by the Natchigal plant.

With a capacity of 400 MW of electricity, the plant, which will be operational from 2019, will cost about 400 billion CFA francs.

Among donors, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) is already in the starting blocks.
