Egyptian, Indian firms win 15.5b FCFA CMR power tender

The Egyptian group, Elsewedy Electric and an Indian company, Angelique International have won a tender worth 15.5 billion FCFA for the design, supply, installation and functioning of medium and low voltage electric networks in eight regions in Cameroon.

This was announced after both companies emerged the most interesting options at the end of an international bidding exercise, said Theodore Nsangou, the director general of Electricity Development Corporation (EDC), a state-owned company specialized in construction of energy infrastructure.

Nsangou explained that the first two deals covering six regions, including the Centre, Littoral, and northwest, west, south and southwest were awarded to Angelique International.

The other one which covers the regions of the far north were granted to Elsewedy Electric.

Angelique International and Elsewery Electric were neck and neck on the three offerings and ahead of major competitors such as China’s Sinohydro and French Cegelec.
