Feicom, KfW to finance medium-sized city project at 8bn FCFA

Thanks to funding provided by the German Agency KfW, special equipment and intercommunal response fund (Feicom), Cameroonian Commons Bank, announces that a sum of over 8 billion Cfa francs will be placed at the disposal of 12 of the 16 communes having bid for "decentralization program Feicom medium-sized cities.

These funding to the municipalities of the central regions, West, Southwest and the Extreme - North of Cameroon, we learnt, will be used for the realization of basic infrastructure projects such as markets, bus stations, parking areas for trucks, as well as drinking water and rural electrification projects.

Launched in 2014 for a period of 5 years, the decentralization Programme of Feicom medium-sized cities has contributed to the improvement of the population access to basic services in municipalities with a population of at least 30,000.

The program comes in three components which are, the financing of economic and social infrastructure, the accompaniment of the municipalities in implementing such infrastructures and the strengthening of the capacities of the Feicom in the funding and support of local development.
