Gov't creates a think tank on facilitating int'l exchanges

The Cameroonian Prime Minister Philémon Yang signed a decree on the creation, structure and operation of the National Exchange facilitation Committee. Advisory body placed under the authority of the head of the government, this committee’s main role is to “propose and monitor and coordinate the implementation of measures meant to facilitate and speed up trade exchanges and international transport”.

As such, specifies the decree from the PM, this committee is charged with “ensuring the coordination between the organisations concerned by the facilitation of trade exchanges and transport and strengthening the partnership between the public sector and the private sector; carrying out or ordering studies not only to identify the problems impacting on costs, timelines and efficiency of international trade; proposing measures to reduce costs and timelines, to improve the efficiency of international trade and to take part in their implementation; contributing to the sharing of information on methods and benefits of facilitating trade exchanges and international transport…”.

The National Committee for the Facilitation of Exchanges comprises all the actors of the transport chain, twelve Ministry service managers, managers from the Cameroonian Association of Employers, transport sector unions, representatives from the Customs administration, insurance companies, bankers, etc.
