Three hundreds Potato farmers in Bui Division recently benefited from government gesture of some thirty tons of potato seeds and other farm inputs.
The handing over of the potato seeds was done by the Northwest Secretary General, Absalom Woloa Monono, who represented the Northwest region governor.
Absalom reminded Bui potato farmers of the potentials in agriculture and also the importance of agriculture in the country today.
He reminded them that the agriculture business needs no favoritism as all it needs hard work.
He also advised them to join cooperation Unions so as to market their products easily.
It was also revealed that some 2000 potato farmers in Bafoussam,Dschang,Santa and Lebialem in the southwest region will also benefit from the same gesture.
Farmers will also receive chemicals, organic manure and other inputs to help improve on potato farming.
The farmers were also advised to plant the seeds at the right time and will be expected to produce 400 t0nnes of potato after 70 days from the 100 kg of the improved seed they received.
For his part,the Northwest Regional Delegate of Agriculture and Rural Development, Godfred Awah Nutoto, said the aim of the ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is to create cooperatives for crops, transform and market them.
He also advised farmers wishing to benefit from the gesture should write their names with the agricultural technicians so as to be economically viable.
