The Ministry of public procurement launched on Monday, a notice of independent tender, restricted to 4 companies, to conduct an audit on the implementation of the agreements between the Government and the American electricity operator AES Corporation.
According to the notice, it stressed that "verify the good implementation of the commitments of the AES partner, both in the context of the framework contract of concession and licence and derivative contracts".
The successful claimant will work to analyze and to give an opinion on the achievements of the American partner, with relevant indicators "as well as on those not required", evaluate the investments, a strong recommendation formula "notably on the areas needing attention". It will also have to "indicate the strong and weak points identified in the context of the implementation of commitments" operator.
AES Corporation, who on July 18, 2001 signed 4 concession contracts with Cameroon over 20 years dealing with the production, transport, distribution, import and export of electricity for the sale of energy to the public, recently ceded to the British investment fund Actis, 56% of shares which it held in the national electricity company (SONEL) amounting to billions of CFA FRANCS of capital gains.
