The rubbish bins which were spread throughout our cities to help with cleanliness unduly find themselves in private households”. Such is the observation made by Michel Ngapanoun, in a communiqué posted on the website of the company Hygiène et salubrité du Cameroun (Hysacam).

The Managing Director of Hysacam, the company managing the waste collection contracts in several Cameroonian cities, specifies that this phenomenon is more prominent in the city of Douala, the economic capital of the country.

According to him, in addition to making the rubbish collection et removal difficult, this act of incivility from Cameroonian populations is creating important losses for Hysacam, whose waste bins often cost up to FCfa 150,000 per unit, we learned.

Indeed, for several months now, Hysacam started spreading throughout the cities where it holds a contract, plastic rubbish bins, whose capacity is between 120 and 360 litres. Unfortunately, these lighter and easily movable bins, often find themselves in households, for various domestic uses.
