The company, Hysacam which manages dozens of contracts for the collection of household garbage in Cameroonian cities, opened November 20, 2014 in Douala, its 2nd plant of waste management and treatment of biogas.
Funded with a loan from Ecobank, this infrastructure is designed to manage the ejection of methane into the atmosphere produced by compacting the garbage, in order to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The company plans in the medium term to transform the gas produced from the project into electrical energy.
Hysacam had already opened one of its projects on June 29, 2011, at Nkolfoulou, locality of the suburb of the Cameroonian capital housing. This used to be a giant landfill which they took over and converted it to biogas production plant in the country.
