According to the High Commissioner of India in Cameroon, A R Ghanashyam, trade between his country and Cameroon are currently estimated at 250 billion Cfa francs per year as revealed in an interview with the Cameroon Government daily.
Moreover, he specifies that Cameroon "is the country whose trade alliance with India is weak in the entire Central African region in recent years and that business cooperation still remains poorly exploited.”
To reverse this trend, the Indian diplomat wishes "to bring into Cameroon the SME development model implemented in India, which was the backbone of the Indian economy of these structures', on one hand, and could throw 'a bridge between Indian and Cameroonian SMEs', on the other hand.
In addition, A R Ghanashyam, whose diplomatic mission covers also Nigeria, Benin and Chad, announced the increase of the credit lines opened by India for the financing of development projects in Cameroon
