Indonesian investors visiting Douala on Monday have vowed to strengthen their presence in Cameroon through various sectors including agriculture where they run a mechanization project and deal in pharmaceutical products.

The Indonesian industrialists whose stay in Cameroon is part of a market research mission also intend to leave their mark on other sectors of the Cameroonian economy including industries for melting products as well as services.

The Indonesians told their Cameroonian counterparts at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mining and Crafts (CCIMA) that they are interested in purchasing agricultural products, in particular wood and its derivatives, cocoa, rubber and coal.

The agricultural sector in Cameroon which contributes up to 22 percent to her national GDP needs capital for its development, at a time when the government faces a torrid time setting up second generation farming based on mechanization.

Cameroonian industrialists proposed that the Indonesian investors can prospect in the mining, construction and public works, tourism and telecommunication industries “where there are huge potentials, according to the CCIMA.

To these ends it was agreed by the two parties that a Cameroonian economic mission will visit Indonesia before the end of the year.
