Invest in Cameroon, it is time - Paul Biya

Cameroon's President Paul Biya, has been invited to the US-Africa summit, which will be held in Washington, by the U.S. President, Barack Obama.

Ahead of the summit to be held on August 4 to 6, which is the first of its kind, the message from the Cameroonian President was read by the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi.

The entire post was centred on the theme: "Investing in Cameroon, it is time."

"Ministers, Ambassador of Cameroon in Washington, President of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), Distinguished members of the U.S. private sector, members of the CCA, Distinguished Heads of public and private companies, Ladies and gentlemen,

I would first of all like to thank President Obama for this initiative US-Africa summit, the first in the history of our relationship.

It is in this context and as a prelude to the summit that takes place the first economic forum Cameroon / USA.

My country is honoured.

I thank the Chairman of the Corporate Council on Africa and all its members for their participation in the preparation and organization of this meeting very quickly.

By choosing to bring American investors from the private sector and members of the Cameroonian Government, the CCA has made a bet based on trust. And he was right.

Cameroon was offered to participate in the development of its potential. In many ways, my country is indeed a land of opportunity. They will be discussed in detail in this forum by the Cameroonian delegation. This includes members of the Government, private sector representatives and U.S. investors already present in Cameroon.

In short, be aware that: Cameroon is a stable country which enjoys a peaceful democracy.

Its growth rate has increased: it was 5.5 per cent in 2014 against 4.6 in 2013. Major infrastructure projects are underway such as energy, ports, roads, agro-industry, mining, etc.

Our potential is considerable in the energy, agriculture, forestry or mining areas and tourism deserves to be developed.

Invest in Cameroon presents many opportunities. Incentive measures, consistent with international standards, have been taken.

The business environment is the focus of an ongoing dialogue between the private and public sectors. In short, investing in Cameroon is a good risk.

NOW IS THE TIME TO INVEST IN CAMEROON:

Establishing joint ventures, or installing your business in managed and serviced economic zones, you will enjoy accompanying measures.

My wish is to see in this forum, to establish good contacts that give rise to fruitful exchanges that prelude to mutually beneficial projects.

I wish you every success in your work and thank you for your attention."
