Korea to Build Vocational Training School

The Minister of External Relations, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo on August 17, 2012 had separate discussions with the Canadian High Commissioner to Cameroon, Benoit-Pierre Lamarée and the Korean Ambassador, June-Hyuck Cho.

The Korean Ambassador announced plans by his country to build a Vocational Teachers Training Centre in Yaounde, stating that both countries are working on the agreement. He said the teachers trained in the school will impart knowledge in the Korean-sponsored vocational training centres in Douala, Limbe and Sangmelima that are all under construction. The diplomat told the press that they reviewed bilateral cooperation and the need to systemise and formalise cooperation projects in view to further consolidate them. Ambassador June-Hyuck Cho and Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo also discussed about the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session. He said they had converging views on many of the issues but declined disclosing them.

Canada's High Commissioner, Benoit-Pierre Lamarée said he used the audience to review Cameroon-Canada relations with Minister Moukoko Mbonjo. He disclosed that Canada's priority is economic partnership. As a palpable manifestation of the partnership, he cited the agreement the Cameroon government and a Canadian firm signed two months ago, the terms of which permit the Canadian firm to undertake oil and gas exploration in Cameroon's Bakassi Peninsular. The diplomat stressed that the economic partnership between Cameroon and Canada is "based on values such as the fight against corruption, strengthening democracy and respect of human rights." Cameroon and Canada already have 50 years of cooperation and the External Relations Minister and the High Commissioner reviewed its evolution. "Our relationship is characterised by authenticity," Benoit-Pierre Lamarée concluded.
