The Cameroonian deep-sea port of Kribi (South) welcomes, Tuesday, his first ship called "Valparaíso" bearer of trailers, learned APA on the eve from the direction of the project.
This symbolic event is the steadiness of the Chronogram of realization of the industrial port complex resort, with the first phase of the work carried out at 65% according to the authorities.
The said port, at a cost of 207,270 billion CFA FRANCS, is directed by the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) on the basis of a loan agreement between Cameroon and Eximbank of China.
Thus, its 1st phase consists of basic infrastructure, a cost of 244 billion FCFA, providing a protection dam, a channel to access vessels, with berths accommodating vessels of 15 metres draught of water, multipurpose and container terminals.
In their 2nd phase, the work will be funded by economic and industrial operators and according to the scheme "Built-Operate-Transfer" (BOT).
These include construction of aluminium, oil, liquefied natural gas terminals as well as a pier ore for iron of 24 metres of draught of water.
Later, for the 2040 horizon, Cameroon seeks the construction of twenty other terminals of the port which will be particularly connected to certain parts of the country not a railway line.
