MTN moves to maximize economic development

Cameroon’s leading telecommunications giant MTN Cameroon, recently organised a MTN-Microsoft cloud conference at the Hotel Meridien douala, to accelerate dialogue towards an increased penetration of the internet and mobile communications rate from its present 8% and 7% respectively, though impressive, into a higher rate would be more impacting to drive the ecomomy forwards.

For those objectives to be achieved, the CEO of MTN Karl Toriola and Simon Outtara the DG of Micrisoft in West and Central Africa in their joint debriefing to participants, said it was necessary for MTN and Microsoft in collaboration with experts and professionals drawn from the private and public sector in the domain the domain of information technology and Communication to sit in the platform of dialogue to share ideas on the opportunities and constraints there in.

Under the theme “competence in information and communications Technology and confidence in the CLOUD”, participants were subdivided into 7 workshops with one theme each to opportune the various participants to contribute.

Simon Ouattara and Karl Toriola strongly believe that by increasing mobile terminals, a better or more performant infrastructure and an increased ssensitisation of subscribers, this innovation can extraordinarily lift the GNP of the Cameroon’s economy which in 2013 stood at $29.27 milliard.
