More than 120 companies have been disqualified from public procurement in Cameroon for a period of two years, following shortcomings noted in the provision of some services, the Ministry of Public Procurement (MINMAP) has indicated in a statement.

Those companies, mostly run by local managers, are accused of abandoning their work sites “to the great prejudice of the beneficiary institutions and population,” but also of deliveries not made, and will therefore have to pay late delivery penalties, with a 10-percent increase compared to the market price.

According to MINMAP, some of the contracts, now abandoned, date back to the 2013 and 2014 fiscal years.

The same ministry already had in October, and for the same reasons, excluded 146 companies from public procurement for two years.
