Cameroonian subsidiary of Swiss giant company, Nestlé foods will start manufacturing product from coffee grown in Cameroon this August, APA reported on Monday as informed by officials of the company.
Nestlé Cameroon intends to take advantage of the Cameroonian government scheme under Cameroonian customs code which spells out the reduction of some part of the tariffs.
Prior to the implementation of this innovation, the Nescafé product that was sold in Cameroon and throughout the CEMAC (Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa) were imported from Côte d' Ivoire.
Equipment and stocks of coffee to help commence local processing are already available, said Nestlé and is open to any recommendations to engender quality and progressive improvement of the Cameroonian coffee.
Specifically, Nestlé will now buy coffee produced locally, ship it to Côte d' Ivoire for primary processing, before returning it to Cameroon in the form of semi-processed product.
From there, the final processing and packaging will be done before sold on the market.
