Nestlé launches the commercialization of Cameroon coffee products

The Cameroon subsidiary of the giant Swiss food, Nestlé, launched Tuesday, the marketing of its product made from local coffee, NESCAFÉ materialising an announcement for a few months.

According to the same information, these products made in Cameroon will be, in a first time, marketed in packaging of 2 grams, before their extension to other packaging on the basis of the needs of the market.

Previously expected in the month of August 2014, this appropriation of the local raw material has been delayed because of technical contingencies. This implementation of the project comes as part of a global process of reduction in imports of first materials of about 70 percent over the next years.

While waiting for a centre of production of NESCAFÉ to be located on Cameroonian territory, Nestlé Cameroon, for the moment, buys coffee locally and exports it to Côte d'Ivoire where it undergoes a first transformation.

The semi-finished product is then returned to Cameroon, where it is subjected to a 2nd stage processing before being packaged and marketed. This process is likely to lower prices, products imported are subject to payment of the duties of approximately 35 per cent against 0 percent products on-site in Cameroon.
