Palm oil production: SG SOC on a new page

An inter-ministerial committee led by the Director General of Programming in the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Janvier Eloma has visited the Agro-industrial company, Sithe Global Sustainable Oils Cameroon (SG SOC) in the South West region.

The visit was to evaluate the evolution of the company’s activities since the Head of State signed a decree authorizing the company to continue its activities.

The company located in the South West region is involved in production of palm oil.

During the visit, company officials disclosed that SG SOC plans to step up the production of palm oil in Cameroon by 60,000 tonnes.

The Head of the inter-ministerial committee says the company will increase palm oil production and also create jobs within the country. The committee was also reassured that the firm’s activities are not hazardous to the environment.

Sithe Global Sustainable Oils Cameroon (SG SOC) is the local branch of an American agro-industrial company, Herakles Farm. Its activities were suspended in May 2013 due to the violation of environmental and land issues.
