Pioneer Tourism Forum Holds Soon

Officials of "Tourisme Magazine" disclosed this during a press briefing in Yaounde on September 12.

In prelude to the 33rd edition of the World tourism Day to be commemorated on September 27, on the theme "Tourism and renewable energy", Tourisme Magazine will organise the first ever Cameroonian tourism forum to mark the celebration of the World Tourism Day.

The forum that will take place from September 19 to 21 at the Yaounde City Council Hall will bring together actors from the North, South, West, Littoral and Center Regions who will share experiences, network, showcase products and deliberate on the theme of the day's event. Created in 2009 with the objective to recompense enterprises and actors in tourism sector, and to encourage professionalism, the Director of the magazine, Jean Baptiste Bamamba, disclosed that the Magazine will also organise a ceremony to award tourism trophies to beneficiaries on September 22nd in O MAEVA Cabaret in Yaounde.

With the existence of an association for Tourism Promotion Professionals codenamed;" Groupement Interprofessionele des Entreprises Touristique" of which Jean Baptiste is the president, they saw the need to create a tourism magazine to promote tourism as stipulated by the World Labour Organisation that any professional body in tourism can create a magazine. The director of the magazine said he also drew inspiration from professional bodies like Tourism Trophies in France, World Travel Award and a host of other organizations.

Speaking during the press conference, the editor-in-chief of Tourisme Magazine, Henry Bertrand Guowi, a debut enterprise in renewable energy, " Energie renouvelabe du Cameroun" will showcase its product to the public since the theme of the World Tourism Day dwells on renewable energy. Prize for the best promoter of tourism for television channels will be selected amongst CRTV, CANAL 2, STV, Africa 24 and CAMNEWS 24. National radio, Sky One Radio, Radio Bonne Nouvelle, RTS, Magic FM and RFI will scramble for Radio prize while the prize for print media will either be given to Cameroon Tribune, Mutation, Le Jour, Le Messager or L'actu. During the first edition, Cameroon Tribune grabbed the prize for the contribution of Media to tourism development.
