Public Works Sector Salaries Increased

The National Collective Bargaining Agreement was signed in Yaounde on December 10, 2013.

Workers in the public the building construction companies in Cameroon will henceforth have better salaries and improved working conditions. This is the outcome of the National Collective Bargaining Agreement binding construction and public works enterprises and annex activities, which was signed in Yaounde on Tuesday December 10, 2013.

Speaking during the occasion, the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Gregoire Owona expressed the wish that the terms of the collective bargaining agreement will be implemented with immediate effect. He also reminded the employers and workers that the collection bargaining agreement has the force of law and thus must immediately and obligatorily be applicable by all the signatories for the good of all.

According to the terms, the collective bargaining agreement of construction and public works enterprises provides for increase in salaries for all categories, among other things. Salaries in construction and public works enterprises have been increased by five per cent. The salary increase automatically includes a substantial revalorisation of diverse indemnities and allowances as well as an increase in absolute value of daily transport indemnity. The event took place in the presence of the Minister of Public Works, Patrice Amba Salla.
