The government of Cameroon has donated improved potato seeds and agriculture inputs to farmers in the North West and West regions of the country.
During two separate handing over ceremonies in Santa and Bafoussam, the Minister of Agriculture, Essimi Menye encouraged the farmers to increase their produce to serve both domestic and international markets.
Mr Essimi Menye also advised them to get together in co-operative societies through which they can easily obtain funds and material assistance to carry out large scale farming.
Meanwhile farmers in the North West region have been hailed for their ingenuity. This comes after it was realized that farmers from this zone have not only grasped the concept of second generation agriculture but many have already embarked on agro businesses.
Experts assert that this relative success is due to a better mastery of the techniques of production which are essential to economic growth.
