The Minister Delegate to the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation in charge of Regional and Local Authorities, Jules Doret Ndongo, has told members of the Committee on Finance and Budget of the National Assembly that 2016 will see the strengthening of efforts to modernise the sector. The Minister defended the 2016 draft budget of the Ministry that stands at FCFA 42.1 billion as against FCFA 45.3 billion in 2015. FCFA 33.2 billion has been set aside as operating budget, with FCFA 8 billion for investments.
The Ministry seeks to modernise territorial administration and strengthen national civil protection measures. Jues Doret Ndong said 2016 will see the implementation of the Civil Status Rehabilitation Programme, the completion or launch of the construction of 30 administrative residences, 16 administrative authorities residences, the rehabilitation of offices and residences and the equipping of offices and residences of administrative authorities.
“This is so particular in the construction of the Senior Divisional Offices of Yaounde in the Centre Region, Kousseri in the Far North and Ndop in the North West Regions. Residences of the Senior Divisional Officers of Ntui, Bertoua, Maroua, Tcholliré and Fundong, some offices and residences of Sub-divisional Officers, as well as the rehabilitation of the National Civil Status System,” are part of the 2016 priority projects for the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation.
