The Fal Committee met on the premises of Gicam in Douala, in the context of strategic coordination of emergency due to the current situation at the port of Douala.
It was a question for the different actors of the port, in this case Josué Youmba, CEO of the national port authority to assess the road travelled since the fourth consultation, held on October 28.
Progress was welcomed for example at the level of the wood yard but the situation in the container terminal remained a concern. 'It remains congested in the areas of imports than in the area of exports', recognized a Manager in service within the Fal Committee.
That said, other spaces have been found for the transfer of "containers which have a long stay", said the same source. The company in charge of the container Park is currently working with the local port authorities, so that new found spaces are "normally established" for the above-mentioned transfer.
According to the Fal Committee, the problem however, remains tough. Cameroon Tribune, in its issue of December 10, reported that 3000 containers remain overdue at the port.
