The renovated oil depot in Nsam inaugurated

On Saturday 14th February in Nsam, on the site of Cameroonian society of petroleum deposits (SCDP), the sadness of 17 years ago gave way to joy.

Strong mobilization of traditional leaders in the District of Yaoundé III, survivors of the disaster and residents attended the inauguration ceremony of the renovated Nsam hydrocarbon deposit.

"A historic event for the inhabitants of the city of Yaoundé and for the whole of the Cameroonian people", said the Prime Minister, head of Government, Philemon Yang who presided over the ceremony.

The oil deposit of Nsam which had been renovated was inaugurated Saturday to mark the culmination of a reform instructed by president Paul Biya after the promulgation of the law on the establishment of security around the establishments classified in 1998.

It took five years before work began in February 2003. "11 years later, we are happy to find ourselves in this modern complex at the forefront of technology with respect to the construction of petroleum deposits worldwide", said the delighted PM.

Today, the infrastructure will help curb tensions often observed in the provision of the city of Yaounde and its surroundings in petroleum products.

Motorists no longer have to live the inconveniences due to failures in the supply of these products. Because of the modernization of the gas filling centre, households have less trouble orchestrated by shortage in domestic gas supply. "A set of achievements that meet national daily demand of products which is located at 5,000 m3 with an average growth rate of 8%.", welcomed Philemon Yang.

The Prime Minister did not fail to thank the people for patience and also the actors of this success, the SCPD and his partner Cameroon Holding Company (CHC). It is precisely this last who designed and directed the work of the deposit.

Initially, it is a construction that would cost three billion CFA francs. It ended at 6.5 billion CFA francs, according to Gaston Eloundou Essomba, CEO of the SCDP.
