The Directorate of Taxation has continued to intensify training of economic operators on the techniques in declaring their taxes online.
The operation, which is taking place nationwide, is in its second phase since the beginning of 2016.
According to officials in the Directorate of Taxation, the process is geared at instituting quality and quicker tax declaration in the country and to limit fraud and save time for both economic operators and the government.
“We think that this process will greatly improve the fiscal operations in the country, combat fraud and limit physical movements of persons especially people coming from the rural areas in the county,” explained Ndong Alphonse of the taxation department in Yaounde.
Many of the trainees in Yaounde admitted it was gainful to carry out such business transaction online. The first training, they said, ignited increasing interest in many who came during the second phase to reinforce their know-how.
“When I tried the first time I was having some difficulties so I thought I should come and learn the process again,” said Ateba Innocent of Steam and Associates enterprise.
He said now he masters how to fill the VAT and IR forms.
For Desmond T. of Ets TEKcorp, if the training could permit the use of trial number during training sessions it will make for better and quicker understanding of the process.
He said tax procedure in Cameroon was resource and time-consuming, so the introduction of online procedure will bring improvement and efficiency.
However, he recommended that if the taxation directorate could work in tandem with Banks in the future for quicker financial transaction then the procedure will just be perfect.
