Tunisia’s Confederation of Corporate Citizens has signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Cameroon’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Crafts (CCIM) and the Employers’ Union (ECAM) aimed at stepping up trade between the two countries, APA has been told at the end of a four-day (April 4-7) multisectoral prospecting mission in Yaounde and Douala.

The first agreement is intended to develop a stream of Tunisian exports, foreign direct investment in Tunisia, as well as investment promotion in third countries.

The second protocol, in the form of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), is preparatory to a specific agreement aimed at identifying strategic areas of exchanges and cooperation.

As one of the focal points of the network of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) provided for by the European Union (EU) to exchange between them, in connection with the entry into force of the Economic Partnership Agreements on August 4, 2016, Cameroon and Tunisia also look forward to signing joint ventures intended to increase their exchanges.

On the sidelines of the Tunisian multisectoral prospecting mission, which consisted of about 30 members, a twinning agreement was also signed between Douala and Sfax for the setting up of an exchange and friendship platform.

Cameroon, according to official statistics, is at the Tunisia’s 52nd suppliers and 31st customer.

The two countries also consider the opening of an air route.
