UBA introduces MasterCard in their services

Customers of United Bank of Africa (UBA), will now benefit from MasterCard payment solutions. This is as a result of an agreement reached recently between the Pan-African Banking Group and the U.S. MasterCard payment solutions provider.

Under the terms of this agreement, UBA is authorized to accept and issue MasterCard in Cameroon, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea (Conakry), Kenya, Liberia, Mozambique, Republic of the Congo (Brazzaville), Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

In Cameroon, UBA will thus join other banking institutions such as Bank Atlantic or Afriland First Bank, which already use the MasterCard, sometimes in addition to the Visa card, competitor of the MasterCard International payments solutions market.

A few weeks before the signing of this agreement, UBA and MasterCard launched MasterCard payment solutions in Nigeria. "This collaboration is a reflection of our vision, which is to be a pan-African Bank's leading products and innovative financial services. This partnership with a global player like MasterCard is part of the realization of our vision for Africa", commented the DG of United Bank of Africa, Kennedy Uzoka.

"MasterCard in Africa commitment means that we continue to work with various partners in the financial services sector, to continually develop products that help consumers to use cash to the adoption of electronic payments", said Daniel Monehin, president of sub-Saharan Africa at MasterCard.
