Vietnam to establish cement plant in Cameroon

The Republic of Vietnam is considering setting up a cement plant in Cameroon "in the near future", according to its Ambassador Vu The Hiep.

This announcement emerged in a discussion between the diplomat and the Minister of economy, planning and the development of the territory, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi.

At the same time, Vietnam is also interested in investments in fields such as trade, industry, electronics or professional education. Sources however have revealed that there is some sort of uncertainty on the part of the Vietnamese in terms of legal conditions for cooperation, and also the conditions for obtaining visas for its nationals.

These concerns were reinforced by the difficulties the Viettel Company, new mobile operator in Cameroon known as Nexttel faced with reference to accusations of massive emploment of Vietnamese labor at the expense of Cameroonians, which was not in agreement to the legal and regulatory provisions.
