Viettel Cameroon has revealed it will be interconnecting its network with telecom giants Orange, MTN and CAMTEL by the end of June 2014.
The country’s third mobile operator, which filed an application for extension of its monopoly on 3G until 2016, has already built a 70 per cent network with just over three months to go before the official launch date of its activities scheduled for September 18.
Jules Kenmy, director of Viettel, announced the company’s immediate plans in an interview with a government daily newspaper and said the internal communications network has been in effect for a few weeks between Yaoundé, Douala, Bafoussam, Bamenda and Ngaoundere through the prefix "6".
"As for prices, the issue is of national concern, we believe we can be competitive,” he reassured.
