The Vietnamese telecom operator, Viettel, owners of the 3rd mobile license in Cameroon since late 2012, announced the recruitment of a "thousand people" after the launch of their activities ultimately planned for 18 September 2014.
A launch of activities of the company has been postponed twice already, in December 2013 and March 2014.
According to Vu Khanh Duy, the Managing Director of Viettel Cameroon, this massive recruitment would pave way for an increase in the number of indirect jobs created by the company, the number of which "can increase up to 5000."
For now, the telecom operator which operates 3G in Cameroon, has 800 employees, including 173 Vietnamese.
This decision is a response to the charges made at the Vietnamese shareholder by local partners for importing many members of staff from Vietnam at the expense of 6300 local jobs promised by the operator at the signing of the concession agreement with the State of Cameroon in late 2012.
