Workshop on CEMAC Trade policies to be held in Brazzaville

A regional workshop on the follow-up of reviews of commercial policy (Epc) in the area of the Central African economic and Monetary community (Cemac) is being held in Brazzaville, in partnership with the World Trade Organization (WTO) to assess the countries of the sub-region following the recommendations and suggestions made in Geneva (Switzerland) on the common commercial policy, an official communique was published Wednesday to that effect.

" a brief presentation on the status of the implementation of the instruments of policy, including the policies in force in our sub-region, while insisting on proposals for solutions to overcome weaknesses and distortions are under way", stated the representative of Cemac, Juliette Engoué.

Meanwhile, André Kanga, Director of cabinet of the Minister of trade and supply, confessed that CEMAC has not yet managed to fully promote trade between its members. The free movement of people and goods is still a simple speculation, sub-regional integration remains below expectations the aspirations of the people, he noted.

This work will allow experts from countries of CEMAC and the World Trade Organization (WTO) to reflect on the establishment of realistic, effective and sustainable exchange and assistance mechanisms between the aeronautical authorities of countries and the commission of Cemac, as well as the secretariat of the WTO.

During the meeting, participants will discuss trade policy monitoring the dashboard project and will pin areas that could benefit from the technical assistance on the part of the WTO and the international community.
