The wife suspected the husband of having an affair while at work.
It all started on the evening of Saturday May 12, 2012 when the man whose name Cameroon Tribune got as Cyprian, returned from a meeting later than expected. The wife, Chantal, suspected him of unfaithfulness but when questioned, Cyprian said he was drinking with his friends.
Not satisfied, Chantal decided to set a trap for the husband. On Monday May 14, she pretended to be more loving than ever and decided to dress up her husband for work. She buttoned up his shirt and combed his hair before he left. Upon Cyprian's return in the evening, Chantal immediately rushed to welcome him back, opting to help take off his clothes. To her greatest dismay, she realised that the shirt was not as she had buttoned up in the morning. The husband had skipped a button, leaving one side of the shirt longer than the other.
This pushed the woman to be more curious. According to her, the husband lied that he did not take off his shirt while at work. She then concluded that he must have had an extramarital affair. After some time of quarrelling, the couple started fighting.
Residents of Mofor Street in Bamenda where the incident took place recounted how they broke into the home to separate the fighting couple to no avail and so returned home until they got a distress cry from Chantal. On rushing to the scene, they found Chantal bleeding profusely in the head and with wounds all over her body while Cyprian lay motionless on the ground.
The neighbours immediately rushed them to hospital. The wife admitted using a heavy chair to hit the husband on the head. Both are still in hospital receiving treatment.
