Bamenda Woman Allegedly Kills Baby After Delivery

A girl whose names Cameroon Tribune got as Feuseh Calisa Mbong from Njinikejem Boyo division now resident in the Old Town neighbourhood in Bamenda is alleged to have killed her child immediately after delivery in her house.

Neighbours recount that at about 8:30 am on Tuesday morning they heard a cry of a young baby from her room. They called her several times but she did not reply. As such, they alerted her aunt who is also a resident of Old Town. Upon her arrival, the doors were still firmly locked but they forced their way into the house only to find Calisa with a dead baby in her arms.

The landlord was alerted and he immediately called the police who rushed to the scene and apprehended the girl to the police station for questioning. Calisa revealed that she delivered the child at home without any problem and after his first cry, he died.

She also disclosed that the author of the pregnancy had refused his responsibility for it as such she was unable to take care of the baby. She said while pregnant, she did not disclose to anybody as she did not know how to cope with the insult from her family members and friends. She said she did not kill the baby as the baby fell off immediately after birth and died.

According to the Commissioner of the Bamenda Central Police, Jean René Ndifor, the girl had to be taken to the hospital for proper medical check-up before being handed back to the police for further investigation.
