Three corpses were discovered on January 5, 2016, in different neighbourhoods of Douala. The first was that of an unidentified man aged about 40 years.

The corpse was discovered at 7 am not far from Government Bilingual High School, Nyalla. It had wounds suspected to have been inflicted by a machete. It is thought that the man was attacked, robbed and beaten up with a sharp object before he died. His remains were left at the Laquintinie Hospital Mortuary.

The second corpse, that of Chemeza Corentine, was discovered in her brother’s home in the Mbangue neighbourhood at 11 am. The 38-year-old topographer is suspected to have committed suicide by setting herself ablaze as a bottle of fuel was found beside her roasted body. After investigations, the body was handed over to the family for burial.

The last corpse was discovered at 12 noon at Bonaloka. The body of 40-year-old Papaya, which was discovered with traces of violence, was taken to the Laquintinie Hospital Mortuary. The Judicial Police have opened investigations.
