FCFA 80 million worth of stolen goods recovered

The men of the underworld were already transporting heavy-duty vehicle spare parts when they were nabbed.

Elements of the Mobile Intervention Unit N°2 in Bonanjo have arrested three notorious robbers and recovered a pickup, taxi and truck loaded with heavy-duty vehicles spare parts.

According to a police report, a taxi matriculated Lt 114 EK transporting the goods was stopped by elements of the Mobile Intervention Unit during their routine patrol at the Yassa Neighbourhood at the early morning of January 3, 2015. The taxi driver, Wilson D., was asked to accompany the police to where he took the goods when they noticed that he hasn’t the receipts.

Upon arrival, the police noticed that serious looting was still being carried out by the rest of the gang members. The police opened fire and succeeded in arresting Samuel M., and Mustapha A., while the main driver absconded.

At the crime scene, a pickup belonging to the robbed enterprises, Société Forestière du Cameroun and a truck owned by the burglars were also being loaded with spare parts.

According to a well placed person in the enterprise, the goods are worth over FCFA 80 million. The three robbers and the three vehicles are presently held at the Judicial Police.
